Chad Braun, who spent
the past three seasons coaching alongside Monmouth College’s new football head coach,
Steve Bell, has been named defensive coordinator and strength coach for the Fighting
Scots.
Braun was MacMurray College’s defensive coordinator and
was on their staff for three seasons. Bell came to Monmouth last week after five seasons
as offensive coordinator for the Highlanders.
"I’m excited," said Bell of the addition of his
MacMurray colleague. "He’s an extremely hard worker, which is probably his biggest
asset. Chad’s a good Christian and a good person, and the kids are going to love him."
Jacksonville has been Braun’s home for the past several
years, as he attended the town’s other Division III school, Illinois College, where he
was an all-conference performer his senior year. He earned two letters with the Blueboys
and was their leading tackler in his senior season.
Following his 1995 graduation from Illinois College,
Braun joined the staff at Jacksonville High School, serving as the Crimsons’ defensive
coordinator and linebacker coach.
Braun, who holds a bachelor of science degree in
biology/secondary education, is currently pursuing his master’s degree in sports
management from Western Illinois University. |
