Haynes named MWC Coach of the Year
Release Date: May 15, 2001
After leading the Monmouth
College Fighting Scots men’s and women’s outdoor track teams to a title sweep at last
weekend’s Midwest Conference Championships in Grinnell, Iowa, Roger Haynes was
named Coach of the Year in the MWC for both men’s and women’s track.
Haynes has made his name directing
Monmouth’s men’s track program, and the title the Scots won at Grinnell was the 18th
indoor or outdoor title for a Haynes-coached men’s team at MC. Since taking over the
women’s program in the 1999-2000 academic year, Haynes has led the Scots to three MWC
championships, giving him a total of 21.
Monmouth’s most recent titles
included two new meet records, both set by relay teams. Constance Jackson,
Jill Hoops, Philicia Moredock and Michelle Flaar ran the 4x100 in
48.40, while the men’s 4x400 squad of Justin Bryant, Randy Williams,
Ryan Moll and Chris Lacy ran a time of 3:16.11.
