Release Date: November 5, 2002
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College sophomore defensive end Andy Stumpf
(Carrollton, Ill./HS) has been named the Midwest Conference
Defensive Player of the Week after an outstanding performance in the
Fighting Scots’ fourth straight win Saturday.
An education major, Stumpf gave
Carroll College a lesson in pass rushing, spending a good portion of
the Fighting Scots’ 35-24 victory in the Pioneers’ backfield,
recording four tackles for
loss, including two sacks.
The TFLs set the Pioneers back a
total of 25 yards. Stumpf finished with six tackles on the day, and
he also batted down a pass.
This is the first Player of the
Week selection for Stumpf.
