MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College’s Beau
Hellman turned in a superb pitching performance Saturday and as a
result earned the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honor.
The senior pitcher from Ottawa, Ill.
(Marquette), tossed a 5-0 shutout against Grinnell. Hellman went the
distance, allowing just two hits over nine innings, as just four
Grinnell hitters reached base. He struck out nine and walked one to
improve his record to 3-0 and lower his ERA to 0.43. He has allowed
just one earned run in 21 innings. Hellman, who at one point retired
16 straight batters, also stroked a two-run single in the fourth
inning.
