Beau Hellman |
MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College’s Beau
Hellman turned in a superb hitting and pitching performance Saturday
and as a result earned his second Midwest Conference Performer of
the Week honor this season.
Hellman came through twice in the clutch for
the Fighting Scots in their Saturday doubleheader against Knox.
In the opener, Monmouth trailed 6-3 in the
bottom of the final inning, but Hellman drilled a three-run double
to tie the game.
Knox won the contest in extra innings,
though, so the teams entered the nightcap tied atop the league
standings. In his most important start of the season, Hellman threw
a nine-inning complete-game, getting the last five outs by
strikeout, to keep Monmouth in control of the MWC South.
Hellman, who is now 5-0 on the year, was
also 3-for-5 at the plate with another RBI, finishing the twinbill
4-for-9 with four RBIs.
