MONMOUTH, Ill. – Fortunately for the Monmouth College women’s soccer team, sophomores Amy and Abby Horneck did not follow Horace Greely’s advice and “go west.” Instead the twins from Hermiston, Ore., came east and were rewarded by the Midwest Conference by being selected to the All-MWC women’s soccer team.

A forward, Amy Horneck claimed her second all-conference selection, being named to the first team for the second time. She led the Fighting Scots in goals (13), assists (8) and points (34).

Abby Horneck, playing at midfield, was second on the team in goals (8) and points (23). She also tied for second in assists (7).

The Hornecks helped the Scots to a 7-6-2 record, their first winning season since 1997.
