MONMOUTH, Ill. — As they have for the past two
years, Knox College President Roger Taylor and Monmouth College
President Richard Giese have made a friendly wager to benefit local
food banks, based on the outcome of the Bronze Turkey football game
between the two schools on Saturday, Nov. 8.
This year's game, starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Knox Bowl
in Galesburg, offers free admission to anyone donating a canned good
at the gate.
The frozen turkeys and canned goods will be delivered to a food
bank next week by the president of the school that loses the game.
This year's game is the 115th in the rivalry, the third-oldest
series in NCAA Div. III football and the sixth-oldest in all of
college football.
