MONMOUTH, Ill. – A total of 15
student-athletes at Monmouth College have been named to the Academic
All-Midwest Conference team for the spring 2004 sports season.
Student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.2 grade point
average to be eligible for the honor.
The Fighting Scots’ track teams led the
college in selections with four men and four women named. Men named
were: seniors Nathan Gaskill, Monmouth, Ill. (HS) and Ryan Moll,
Farmington, Ill. (HS) and sophomores Zach Barr, Roseville, Ill. (HS)
and Anthony Welty, Dixon, Ill. (Newman Central Catholic). From the
women’s team senior Elizabeth Altekruse, St. Charles, Ill. (East)
was named as were three sophomores – Abby Horneck, Hermiston, Ore.
(HS), Amy Horneck, Hermiston, Ore. (HS) and Erin Mann, Monmouth,
Ill. (HS).
Monmouth’s baseball and softball teams
landed three selections each. Junior Thad King, Loraine, Ill. (ROWVA)
and sophomores Matt Engelhardt, Yorkville, Ill. (HS) and Josh Ragar,
Stronghurst, Ill. (Southern) were selected from the baseball team. A
trio of seniors, Nicole Auclair, Darien, Ill. (Hinsdale South),
Michelle Courchane, Roscoe, Ill. (Hononegah) and Michelle Meyer,
Mapleton, Ill. (Illini Bluffs) represented the softball team.
The men’s golf team was represented by
senior Alan Sullivan, Galesburg, Ill. (HS).
