MONMOUTH, Ill. — Wes Wrage, a first team
All-Olympic Conference post player from Farmington High School,
plans to enroll at Monmouth College this fall and continue his
basketball career with the Fighting Scots.
“I’m really impressed with Wes,” said men’s
basketball coach Dr. Terry Glasgow, who has guided Monmouth to 439
victories in 32 years. “I’ve watched his progress, and he’s really
improved over the last year. He’s very physical inside, and that’s
an area where we need help.”
As a senior, Wrage averaged 10.8 points and
6.3 rebounds as Farmington advanced to the final of the Taylor Ridge
Sectional. He shot 47 percent from the field and had 51 assists and
led the Farmers with 35 blocked shots. In addition to his All-Oly
honors, Wrage was the MVP of the Abingdon Shootout. In conference
games, he was ranked seventh in the league in scoring, fourth in
rebounding and eighth in free throw percentage.
The Fighting Scots also recently recruited
the Olympic Conference’s fifth-leading scorer, Knoxville’s Chris
Walker.
“I feel his best basketball is ahead of
him,” Glasgow added of Wrage, who is the son of Wayne and Elizabeth
Wrage of Yates City.
