MONMOUTH, Ill. – Three Monmouth College
basketball players have received postseason honors from the Midwest
Conference.
Two men’s team members were named to the
honorable mention squad. Senior forward Troy Bennett (Monmouth,
Ill./Warren) and junior point guard Travis Miller (Pontiac,
Ill./Township) picked up their second and first selections,
respectively.
Bennett, who scored his 1,000th point this
season and is 13th on the school’s all time scoring list, led the
Scots in scoring with 419 points (18.2 ppg). He was second on the
team in rebounding (120) and was the Scots’ high scorer in 12 games.
He finished with season with 15 straight double-figure scoring games
including a career-high 42 against Grinnell.
Miller made the transition to point guard
but still managed to lead the team in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and
assists (3.2 apg) and was second in scoring (13.7 ppg).
On the women’s side, freshman forward
Mallory Mulvihill (Palatine, Ill./HS) was honored by the league’s
coaches with an honorable mention selection.
Mulvihill led Monmouth in scoring (10.2 ppg)
and three-pointers (26) and was second in rebounding (5.5 rpg). She
also was the Scots’ high scorer in eight games this season.
