Release Date: November 11, 2004
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College’s Tyler Dihle (Good Hope,
Ill./Northwestern), a 6-foot-6, 300-pound junior defensive lineman
has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District V College
Division football team.
Dihle, a junior political science major, was named to the third team
and becomes the 10th Fighting Scot athlete since 2001 to receive
such an award.
In Dihle’s two years as a starter, the Scots have posted a 17-3
record and finished second in the Midwest Conference both years. He
is second for the Fighting Scots in pass breakups by a defensive
lineman, and his 24 tackle assists are also second at his position.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for Tyler,” said coach Steve
Bell. “Tyler’s selection speaks well for our football program. He is
very deserving of this honor and is a testament to his hard work in
the classroom and on the field.”
The CoSIDA Academic All-District V team is voted on by sports
information directors from District V, which includes Illinois,
Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and two Canadian provinces. To be
eligible for the award, an athlete must meet minimum grade point
requirements, have legitimate athletic credentials and be a starter
or important reserve while reaching at least sophomore status.
Dihle is the son of Laurie Dihle of Good Hope.
