MONMOUTH, Ill. — While the Monmouth-St.
Norbert football game at Bobby Woll Memorial Field will draw much of
the attention for Fighting Scots athletics this Family Weekend, the
men’s soccer team also opens Midwest Conference play with a pivotal
homestand.
The Fighting Scots will host Knox on
Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peacock Park and will then play Grinnell on
Sunday at 1:30 p.m., which is a change from the earlier announced
time of 2 p.m.
Monmouth-Knox soccer matches are always
entertaining, and the Scots won 4-0 last year in Galesburg to take
their fifth straight victory in the series. The Scots are 1-1-1 in
their last three matches against Grinnell.
In women’s soccer scheduling notes, the
Fighting Scots will play Cornell College at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
This is a change from the previously announced time of 2 p.m.
Monmouth and Cornell haven’t met since 1996, when the Rams won a
pair of 3-1 games to increase their all-time lead in the series to
6-0.
Also, the women’s match against Coe that was
rained out on Sept. 15 will likely be made up and is tentatively
scheduled for Oct. 12.
