
MC’s Hoffer named MWC Swimmer of
the Week

MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College freshman Erik Hoffer (Palos Hills, Ill./Amos
Alonzo Stagg) has made a splash for the Fighting Scots men’s swim
team and has been honored by the Midwest Conference as the MWC
Swimmer of the Week.
Competing last weekend at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle,
Ind., Hoffer broke seven school records and finished second in the
500 yard freestyle (4:54.18) and the 1650 yard freestyle (17:19.07).
His 1000 yard split time for the 1650 was also a school record of
10:33.44. He finished seventh in the 400 yard IM with a time of
4:36.62 and swam a faster time of 4:32.95 in the preliminaries. He
was also part of two school record relay teams – the 800 yard
freestyle relay, which finished eighth (8:10.12) and the seventh
place 200 yard medley relay (1:47.27).
A biology major, Hoffer is the son of Mark and Dolly Hoffer of Palos
Hills.
