Performer of the Week honor
Release Date: March , 2004
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College’s Ryan Bruso (Morton, Ill./HS) stepped up
for the Fighting Scots tennis team and has been rewarded with the
Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honor in men’s tennis.
During spring break, Bruso moved up to No. 1
singles for the Fighting Scots and helped Monmouth win three of its
four dual meets March 12-13. Monmouth’s lone loss came against CCIW
foe North Central, but Bruso came through for the Scots in that
match with a 6-1, 6-3 singles win and an 8-5 victory in doubles with
partner Dan Schultz. Bruso and Schultz also won their doubles
matches against Illinois Valley Community College and Dubuque
College and Bruso added a singles win vs. IVCC.
The freshman player is even making a name
for himself for the way he competes in losses. For the third time
this season, he lost a hard-fought third-set tiebreaker, falling
10-8 to his foe from Dubuque.
A business major, Bruso is the son of Scott
and Shelli Bruso of Morton.
