
MC volleyball, men's soccer place
six on All-MWC list

MONMOUTH, Ill. – For the sixth
consecutive year the Monmouth College volleyball team has landed at
least three members on the All-Midwest Conference team. The Fighting
Scots men’s soccer team continued its streak of at least two named
to the squad dating back to 1997 and the women’s soccer team have
their first Player of the Year after voting by the league’s coaches
last weekend.
Senior right side hitter Molly Pendergrass (Galesburg, Ill./HS) and
junior outside hitter Karissa Murray (Hometown, Ill./Oak Lawn) were
named to the volleyball first team while freshman middle hitter
Kendra James earned second team honors.
Pendergrass earned her third selection to the squad while leading
the Scots in kills (444) and kills per game (3.50). Murray paced
Monmouth with a team-leading 61 service aces and James led the way
in block assists (95) and total blocks (122).
Junior Amy Horneck (Hermiston, Ore./HS) continued her assault on the
women’s soccer record books and picked up her third first team
All-MWC honor. She was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
Horneck led the Scots in goals (15) and points (42). She also holds
the school record for career points (114) and goals (46).
The Fighting Scots men’s soccer squad had a pair of athletes named
to the second team – junior midfielders Brian Potter (Hudson,
Ill./Normal West) and Andrew Prewett (Cardiff, Wales). Prewett led
the Scots in points (11), goals (4) and assists (3) and Potter was
the team leader in games played (16).
