Plenty of hoops at MC Thanksgiving weekend

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Basketball junkies will be able to get their fix this weekend at Monmouth and Knox colleges when the 18th annual Pizza Hut/Econo Foods Basketball Classic tips off.

Monmouth and Galesburg Econo Foods stores and Pizza Hut restaurants have teamed up to provide free admission to the eight games Saturday and Sunday.

The Fighting Scots and the Prairie Fire will host women’s teams from Westminster College (Mo.) and Rockford College and men’s teams from Westminster and Eureka College. Game times in Monmouth and Galesburg are 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday.

On Saturday, the Scots women will host Westminster followed by the men hosting Eureka. Sunday’s schedule finds the women playing host to Rockford, followed by the men entertaining Westminster.
