MONMOUTH, Ill. – Four Monmouth
College basketball players have been named all-conference in a poll
of Midwest Conference coaches.
Two men’s team members were named to the squad. Senior guard Travis
Miller (Pontiac, Ill./Township) and junior guard Anthony Beaird
(Coal Valley, Ill./Moline) picked up their second and first
selections, respectively.
Miller was selected second team All-MWC after leading Monmouth in
rebounds (146) and rebounds per game (6.6). He also led the team in
minutes played (716). Miller posted an 11.6 career scoring average
while pulling down an average of 5.8 rebounds per game, and he
scored in double figures in 60 percent of his games.
Beaird, who received an honorable mention, paced the Fighting Scots
in scoring (391) and scoring average (17.8). He holds the Monmouth
records for 3-pointers in a season (84) and a career (190).
On the women’s side, senior forward Elyse Lambert (Chicago,
Ill./Mother Mcauley) and junior guard Courtney Scherrer (Roscoe,
Ill./Hononegah) received their first all-league honors and were
named to the second team.
Lambert led a balanced Scots team in scoring (223) and scoring
average (9.7). She finished her career with 698 points and averaged
4.1 rebounds per game.
Scherrer paced Monmouth in assists (84) and was second in scoring
(171) and scoring average (7.8). She also led the team in minutes,
playing 679 out of a possible 920 minutes this season.
A business/management information systems major, Miller is the son
of Debra Miller of Pontiac and Robert Miller of Bloomington.
An accounting/business major, Beaird is the son of Patrick Beaird
and Susan Engemen, both of Coal Valley.
A history major, Lambert is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David
Lambert of Chicago.
An education major, Scherrer is the daughter of Steve and Carolyn
Scherrer of Roscoe.
