MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Monmouth
College men’s soccer team placed five members on the All-Midwest
Conference second team, keeping alive a streak of multiple
selections on the squad dating back to 1997. The five members named
were the most selections for the Fighting Scots since 2001.
Seniors Brian Potter (Hudson, Ill./Normal West), Andrew Prewett
(Cardiff, Wales/Bishop of Llandaff) and Justin Williams (Colorado
Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) and sophomores Brandon Stacey (Galesburg,
Ill./Galesburg) and Trevor Neff (Morris, Ill./Coal City) helped the
Scots triple their win total from last season. Potter, Prewett and
Stacey are midfielders while Neff and Williams play forward and
defender, respectively.
Potter picked up his third all-conference honor. He led the Fighting
Scots in assists (8) and tied for the lead in points (12).
In picking up his second league honor, Prewett finished his career
on the Scots honor roll for career goals.
Williams helped the Scots’ defense hold opponents to a .105 shot
percentage and just under two goals per game. This was his first
all-conference selection.
Stacey picked up his first All-MWC honor. He finished the year third
on the team in goals and fifth in points.
Neff, who earned his first all-league selection, led the Fighting
Scots in goals and game winning goals. He also tied for the lead in
points (12).
The Scots ended the season with back-to-back shutout victories and
finished 6-7-3.
