Monmouth College’s Kallal is MWC
Performer of the Week
Release Date: September 27, 2005
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College sophomore midfielder Paul Kallal
(Jerseyville, Ill./Jersey) led the Fighting Scots to a
come-from-behind win over Grinnell College Sunday and was rewarded
for his efforts with the Midwest Conference Co-Performer of the Week
honor in men’s soccer.
Kallal, who had started the season as a defender, made coach Rue
Carthew’s decision to move him to midfield pay big dividends as he
scored his first collegiate goal off a header early in the second
half to put the Fighting Scots on the board. He then notched the
game winner on a free kick with just over seven minutes to play.
Kallal, who shares the honor with Chris Johnson of Beloit, picked up
his first MWC Performer of the Week honor.
A history major, he is the son of Patricia Kallal of Jerseyville.
