MC places 20 athletes on Academic
All-MWC list

MONMOUTH, Ill. – A total of 20
student-athletes at Monmouth College have been named to the Academic
All-Midwest Conference team for the spring 2006 sports season.
Student-athletes who have reached at least sophomore academic status
must have achieved a minimum 3.2 grade point average to be eligible
for the honor.
The Fighting Scots’ track and field team led the college in
selections with 10 team members - seniors Abby Horneck (Hermiston,
Ore./Hermiston), Erin Mann (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth), Tanner Scott
(Macomb, Ill./Macomb) and Anthony Welty (Dixon, Ill./Newman Central
Catholic); juniors Andrea Emery (Knoxville, Ill./Knoxville), Tim
Frank (Farmington, Ill./Farmington), Bradley Franks (Aledo,
Ill./Aledo), Ashley Gaul (Swansea, Ill./ Belleville East), and Joni
Nelson (Little York, Ill./Yorkwood); and sophomore Kyle Schierer
(Metamora, Ill./Metamora).
Monmouth’s softball team placed four members on the honors list.
Junior Jackie Hennenfent (Wataga, Ill./ROWVA) was joined by
sophomores Kristin Bickett (Malden, Ill./Princeton), Anna Coutts
(Ladd, Ill./Spring Valley Hall) and Jen Hass (Pittsfield,
Ill./Pittsfield).
A trio of seniors were honored in baseball with Matt Engelhardt
(Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville), Kyle Gibbs (Williamsfield, Ill./Williamsfield)
and Josh Ragar (Stronghurst, Ill./Southern) making the list.
The men’s golf team was represented by juniors Justin Martin
(Monmouth, Ill./Warren ) and Lee Radford (Orion, Ill./Orion) while
junior Alex Carter (Wilton, Iowa/Wilton) was the lone representative
for the Scots men’s tennis team.
