Dunn leads Scots’ contingent on
All-MWC baseball squad

MONMOUTH, Ill. — Senior Dan Dunn
(Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) was honored as the Midwest Conference
South Division Pitcher of the Year, leading a group of eight
Fighting Scots who were named All-MWC this spring.
Dunn’s 4-0 shutout of St. Norbert in the MWC playoffs lowered his
season ERA to 2.58 and raised his record to 7-4. He struck out 78
batters in 76.2 innings, both team-highs.
His main mound mate, senior Matt Engelhardt (Yorkville,
Ill./Yorkville) also made the South Division first team after going
3-4 with a 2.99 ERA.
Rounding out Monmouth’s first team selections were senior catcher
Josh Ragar of Stronghurst (.300, 10 RBI), sophomore shortstop Ryan
Priola of St. Charles (.338, 4 HR, 25 RBI), senior outfielder Matt
Gordon of Abingdon (.322, 4 HR, 25 RBI) and sophomore utility player
Ryan Stubler of Crystal Lake (.343, 28 RBI).
Junior Chris Smith of Galesburg (.333, 6 HR, 33 RBI) and sophomore
Nate Palkovic of Peoria (.331, 12 RBI) made the second team.
The selections marked the second time that Dunn and Stubler have
been honored as All-Midwest Conference players.
