MONMOUTH, Ill. – More accolades for
a pair of Monmouth College women’s basketball players arrived
Tuesday as sophomore center Ashley Yeast (Sciota, Ill./West Prairie)
and senior guard Courtney Scherrer (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) were
named All-Midwest Conference first and second team, respectively.
Yeast, ranked fifth nationally in
rebounds per game (12.0), averaged a double-double for the Fighting
Scots this season with an 11.2 scoring average. She also set the
season record for rebounds (275) and led the team in field goals and
steals in garnering her first all-league selection. She posted a
conference-high 13 double-doubles during the year.
Scherrer, who is also ranked among the nation’s leaders in assists,
set the season (115) and career (344) assist records. She is second
in school history in games played, and her 73.8-percent career free
throw average is also second. This is Scherrer’s second
all-conference selection.
An accounting/physical education major, Yeast is the daughter of
Stephen and Judy Yeast of Sciota.
Scherrer, an education major, is the daughter of Steve and Carolyn
Scherrer of Roscoe.
