Monmouth College’s Henkins is MWC

MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College men’s pole vaulter Johnny Henkins (Kewanee,
Ill./Kewanee) had an outstanding performance at last Saturday’s
Midwest Invitational at Monmouth and landed his first Midwest
Conference Performer of the Week honor in men’s indoor track and
field.
Henkins, named the field Performer of the Week, cleared the pole
vault at 15’9” to win the event by more than a foot. The sophomore’s
effort has provisionally qualified him for the NCAA national meet in
March and the mark ties him for the sixth-best vault in the nation
this season.
Only All-American Keenan King has a
higher vault in the history of Fighting Scots indoor track and
field.
A business major, Henkins is the son of Paul and Becky Henkins of
Kewanee.
