Release Date: May 27, 2006
MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College’s
Albert Greene (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) saved his best for last,
soaring a school record 48’10-1/4 in the triple jump at the NCAA
Division III Track and Field Championships Saturday to place third
and pick up All-American honors. Four Monmouth athletes claimed
All-American honors at the meet held at Benedictine University in
Lisle.
Junior Alex Stuart (Kirkwood, Ill./Yorkwood), competing
simultaneously in the javelin and triple jump, took seventh in the
triple jump with a leap of 47’9 to also claim the national honor.
His javelin throw of 187’10 was less than three feet from qualifying
him for the finals in that event.
Greene wasn’t the only Fighting Scot to set a new school mark
Saturday.
On the women’s side, freshman hurdler Shannon Turczyn (Peru,
Ill./LaSalle-Peru) broke her own school record in the 100 hurdles,
clocking a time of 14.33. Her record performance was good enough for
fifth in the event and All-American status.
On Friday, sophomore Jonny Henkins (Kewanee, Ill./Kewanee) cleared
15’11-1/4 in the pole vault to capture All-American honors with a
fifth-place finish.
