MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College
junior Dante Daniels (Waukegan, Ill./Gurnee) and freshman Shannon
Turczyn (Peru, Ill./LaSalle-Peru) had outstanding performances last
Saturday’s Wartburg Select meet in Waverly, Iowa, and picked up this
week’s Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honors in men’s and
women’s track and field. Both were honored for their performances in
running events.
Daniels logged an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10.80 in the
100-meter dash as he won the event. He also picked up a second in
the 200-meter dash and was part of the 4x400 relay team that
finished second and the fourth-place 4x100 relay.
Turczyn nearly duplicated Daniels’ day by just missing a provisional
qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles (15.09) to finish second.
She was 13th in the 200-meter dash. She also ran a leg on Monmouth’s
fourth-place 4x100 relay. Her hurdles time moved her to the top
ranking in the Midwest Conference.
