MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College
junior Alex Stuart (Kirkwood, Ill./Yorkwood) and freshman Luke
Reschke (Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo) enjoyed the competition at last
Saturday’s Wisconsin Twilight in Madison, Wis., and were named this
week’s Midwest Conference Performers of the Week in men’s track and
field.
Stuart, competing in the triple jump and javelin, had an outstanding
meet against some of the nation’s best. He won the javelin with a
throw of 187’5, just four inches off his career mark. He also
finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 47’3-1/2. His mark
in the javelin is tops in the Midwest Conference.
Reschke got ready for this weekend’s MWC meet by turning in the
league’s best time of 48.52 in the 400-meter dash, just .02 shy of
the NCAA national provisional-qualifying mark. Reschke also ran a
leg on the Fighting Scots’ first place 4x400 relay team, which
turned in an NCAA automatic-qualifying time of 3:13.03, good for
fourth place in the national rankings. One of the other team members
was his brother, junior Josh Reschke.
A physical education major, Stuart is the son of Stacy Dutton of
Kirkwood and Bryan Stuart of Monmouth.
A business major, Reschke is the son of Allan and Kathy Reschke of
Geneseo.
