Monmouth College’s Mertel is MWC
Performer of the Week

 MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College senior defender Kristin Mertel (Hoffman
Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) supplied some offense and was named
the Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week in women’s
soccer.
Despite playing in the defensive half of the field, Mertel scored a
pair of goals and added two assists in a pair of victories last
week. The Fighting Scots downed rival Knox College 8-0 to stay in a
tie for third place in the league standings, then posted a 4-1 win
over the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Mertel is second in the Midwest Conference with 16 points in nine
games.
