MONMOUTH, Ill.
– The Monmouth
College baseball team received some postseason accolades when Jeremy
Kafka (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) and Ryan Priola (St. Charles,
Ill./East) were named to the NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region
second and third team, respectively.
Previously named the Midwest Conference Southern Division Player
of the Year, Kafka hit a team-leading .439 and paced the Fighting
Scots with a .640 slugging percentage.
His three home runs in the
season’s final conference doubleheader moved him into a tie for the
team lead.
The sweet-swinging senior outfielder set the new Monmouth
season standard for hits (61) and total bases (89). He is scheduled
for tryouts with two major league teams this month.
Priola hit .359 with 82 total bases and tied Kafka for the team
lead in homeruns.
The junior third baseman tied the school season
record with 39 RBIs and set the new mark with 17 doubles.
An art major, Kafka is the son of Paul and Margaret Kafka of
Huntley.
Priola, a business major, is the son of Joe and Lori Priola of
St. Charles.
