Monmouth College’s Yeast named
Academic All-District

MONMOUTH,
Ill. – For the second year in a row, Monmouth College women’s
basketball player Ashley Yeast (Sciota, Ill./West Prairie) has been
honored for her athletic and academic excellence by ESPN.
Yeast, a junior center, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District V College Division second team.
A four-time Dean’s List recipient, Yeast leads the nation in
rebounding (286). With two games to play, the 6-foot-2 junior
already holds the Monmouth season rebounding record and recently set
the single-game record (21). She also leads the team in every
rebounding category and is third on the team in scoring (253) and
points per game (12.0). She leads the Midwest Conference with 13
double-doubles this season.
Yeast’s second selection marks the first time in school history a
basketball player has been named Academic All-District two times in
their career.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V team is voted on by
sports information directors from District V, which includes
Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin and two Canadian provinces.
Athletes must earn a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA, have achieved at
least sophomore status at their respective school and be a starter
or key reserve in order to be nominated for the post-season honor.
Only first team all-district athletes are eligible to be placed on
the national ballot.
An accounting and physical education major, Yeast is the daughter of
Stephen and Judy Yeast of Sciota.
