MONMOUTH, Ill.
– Monmouth
College sophomore Clay Staley (Hanna City, Ill./Illini Bluffs) and
freshman Mary Kate Beyer (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) are
providing a solid foundation for the Fighting Scots men’s and
women’s cross country teams and have been named the Midwest
Conference Performers of the Week.
Staley posted a time of 26:03 at last week’s Bradley University
Open, improving on his career best by 10 seconds. His time on the 8K
course was the best in the Midwest Conference this season.
Beyer improved even more on her 5K time, dropping nearly a full
minute off her season-best mark, to lead the MWC.
The tandem finished seventh and fourth, respectively at the
Detweiller Park course.
