MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College
opened its indoor track season last weekend with an impressive meet
at Knox College and swept the Midwest Conference Performer of the
Week honors.
Senior Dante Daniels (Waukegan, Ill./Gurnee-Warren) captured the
men’s track POW honors. He took first in the 55-meter dash (6.62)
and 200-meter dash (22.68) and ran a leg on the Scots winning 4x200
relay.
Daniels’ classmate, Jeff Rebholz (Henry, Ill./Henry), took first in
the weight throw with a school-record and provisional-qualifying
throw of 57’2-1/4”. He also placed second in the shot put (52’11”)
while taking the men’s field event POW.
Ashley Widdop (Reynolds, Ill./Rockridge) picked up three firsts at
the meet to be named the women’s track POW. The sophomore finished
first in the 55-meter hurdles (9.31) and 55-meter dash (7.78) and
was on the winning 4x200 relay.
Junior Jessica White (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) was named the
women’s field event POW while setting a new school mark in the pole
vault (11’5-3/4”) en route to winning the event. The mark was nearly
a foot higher than her previous best and qualified her provisionally
for the national meet.
