MONMOUTH, Ill. – Two
more Monmouth College track and field athletes have been named
Midwest Conference Performers of the Week.
Seniors Kel Bond
(Dixon, Ill./Dixon) and Jeff Rebholz (Henry, Ill./Henry) continued
the three-week streak for the Fighting Scots.
Bond captured the men’s track POW honors for his performance at last
weekend’s Titan Open in Bloomington. His second place time in the
mile (4:19.21) was just three seconds off the provisional qualifying
time and is tops in the league this season.
He placed third in the
800-meter run (1:56.56) and ran a strong leg on the Scots’ 4x400
relay team.
Rebholz took first in the weight throw and the shot put with throws
of 58’5-1/4” and 54’6-3/4”, respectively. His mark in the weight
throw set a new school record and his shot put mark was a personal
best.
The POW honors were Rebholz’ second this season and Bond’s first.
