MONMOUTH, Ill. – A pair
of Monmouth College seniors have been honored by the Midwest
Conference for outstanding track and field performances at last
week’s UNI-Dome Open in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Jumper Alex Stuart
(Kirkwood, Ill./Yorkwood) and sprinter Kila Cox (Granger, Ind./Hononegah)
were named MWC Performers of the Week.
Stuart was named the men’s field event POW after winning the triple
jump with a school-record mark of 47’4-1/2”. His performance is
currently sixth in the nation and just seven inches shy of the
national leader.
Cox collected the women’s track POW thanks to a pair of outstanding
400-meter times and a stellar 200-meter performance. The sprinter
ran a league-best time of 1:00.87 in the 400-meters and then ran an
improved leg in the women’s 4x400 relay as the team clocked a
league-best time of 4:11.37. Her time in the 200-meters of 27.18 is
currently third in the conference.
A physical education major, Stuart is the son of Stacy Dutton of
Kirkwood and Bryan Stuart of Monmouth.
A business major, Cox is the daughter of John and Robin Kloster of
Granger, Ind.
