Daniels, Babos named MWC Performers of the Week

MONMOUTH, Ill.
– Senior
sprinter Dante Daniels (Waukegan, Ill./Gurnee-Warren) and junior
thrower Jenny Babos (Leland, Ill./Somonauk) continued the Monmouth
College streak of Midwest Conference Performers of the Week with
their selections as the men’s track and women’s field event POWs,
respectively.
Competing at the Division I-laden Jim Duncan Invitational at
Drake University Saturday, Daniels placed second in the 100-meter
dash (10.81) and third in the 200-meter dash with a league-best and
provisional qualifying time of 21.66.
He also ran legs on the second-place 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
The 4x100 team’s time of 41.85 qualified them provisional for the
national meet and the 4x400 squad also provisionally qualified with
a time of 3:16.41.
Babos had an all around great day Sunday at the Lee Calhoun
Memorial in Macomb. The junior placed second in the discus with a
provisional-qualifying distance of 139’11". Her school-record hammer
throw of 140’6" was good for fifth and her shot put of 39’0-3/4"
also placed her fifth. She holds the top marks in the MWC in both
the discus and hammer throw.
