College senior distance man Zach Barr (Roseville, Ill./Roseville)
and classmate, Tim Frank (Farmington, Ill./Farmington) tuned up for
this weekend’s Midwest Conference meet with outstanding efforts in
Wisconsin to claim Performers of the Week in men’s track and field.
The national steeplechase champion in 2005, Barr ran a
season-best and provisional-qualifying 9:19.49 in that event at the
Wisconsin Twilight Meet held in Madison, Wis. His time moved him
into the top 20 nationally and improved his own No. 1 league time.
Frank also had his season best in Madison, clearing 6’4-3/4 in
the high jump to give him the best jump in the MWC heading into this
weekend’s conference meet. A career high jumper, Frank made a run at
the triple jump last weekend and should be a medal contender this
weekend.
A physical education major, Barr is the son of Terry and Jeanne
Barr of Roseville.
Also a physical education major, Frank is the son of Michael and
Candace Frank of Farmington.
