Twenty-three Scots earn MWC
All-Academic honor

MONMOUTH, Ill. — The Midwest
Conference recently announced the All-Academic teams for its six
winter varsity sports. Included are 23 Monmouth College
student-athletes.
In order to be named to the MWC’s All-Academic team, a
student-athlete must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and must earn a
varsity letter in that sport.
The following student-athletes are Monmouth’s 2006-07 winter sports
representatives:
Women’s indoor track (8) – seniors Andrea Emery (Knoxville,
Ill./Knoxville), Ashley Gaul (Swansea, Ill./Belleville East), Joni
Nelson (Little York, Ill./Yorkwood) and Carissa Young (Smithshire,
Ill./Roseville); and sophomores Erin Degelman (Sherrard,
Ill./Sherrard), Ashly Lowdermilk (Princeton, Ill./Princeton),
Shannon Turczyn (Peru, Ill./LaSalle-Peru) and Ashley Widdop
(Reynolds, Ill./Rockridge).
Women’s basketball (6) – senior Laura Jahn (Palos Park, Ill./Stagg);
juniors Tanesha Hughes (Peoria, Ill./Woodruff), Cassie Jensen
(Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth) and Ashley Yeast (Sciota, Ill./West
Prairie); and sophomores Melissa Gorski (Arlington Heights,
Ill./Buffalo Grove) and Crystal Myers (Byron, Ill./Byron).
Men’s indoor track (5) – seniors Zach Barr (Roseville,
Ill./Roseville), Dante Daniels (Waukegan, Ill./Gurnee-Warren) and
Tim Frank (Farmington, Ill./Farmington); junior Kyle Schierer
(Metamora, Ill./Metamora); and sophomore Chris Welty (Dixon,
Ill./Newman).
Men’s and women’s swimming (3) – senior Brian Kura (Park Ridge,
Ill.); junior Andrea Dorscheid (Janesville, Wis./Craig); and
sophomore Sarah Christensen (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg).
Men’s basketball (1) – junior Jesse Haskett (Manito, Ill./Midwest
Central).
