MONMOUTH, Ill. –Monmouth College women’s basketball player Ashley
Yeast (Sciota, Ill./West Prairie) has made history at Monmouth
College.
Yeast, a senior, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District V College Division second team for the third
consecutive year, becoming Monmouth’s first three-time honoree.
A seven-time Dean’s List recipient, two-time all-conference and
two-time academic all-conference performer, Yeast holds the Fighting
Scots’ women’s season rebounding record (315), the single-game
record (21) and the women’s career record (937). She is two rebounds
from tying the school record for rebounds – men or women. The 6’1
center leads the team in rebounding (167), is second in steals (29)
and third on the team in scoring average (12.1 ppg) and led the
nation in rebounding last season (315). Her career numbers for
rebounds and points (925) means she could become the college’s first
player to collect 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V team is voted on by
sports information directors from District V, which includes
Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin and two Canadian provinces.
Athletes must earn a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA, have achieved at
least sophomore status at their respective school and be a starter
or key reserve in order to be nominated for the post-season honor.
Only first team all-district athletes are eligible to be placed on
the national ballot.
An accounting and business major, Yeast is the daughter of
Stephen and Judy Yeast of Sciota.
