Scots sweep weekly cross country awards Release Date:

MONMOUTH, Ill. —
A pair of outstanding performances by the Monmouth College cross
country team has led to Midwest Conference Performer of the Week
honors for the Scots’ Mary Kate Beyer (East Peoria, Ill./East
Peoria) and Scott Sheller (Morton, Ill./Morton).
Beyer continued her torrid running, finishing sixth in the field
of 315 runners at the 27-team Brissman-Lundeen Invitational which
included Division II and other scholarship schools last Saturday.
Running on an unfamiliar course at Saukie Golf Course in Rock
Island, Ill., the sophomore’s 6K time of 22:40.4 ranks her tops in
the MWC this season and was just 21 seconds off her personal best.
Sheller helped the men to an eighth place finish at the
invitational.. Running for the first time at Saukie Golf Course in
Rock Island, Ill., the sophomore ran a lifetime best by an amazing
50 seconds. His 8K time of 26:56.6 placed him 39th overall as the
second Monmouth runner to cross the finish line. His time ranks as
the fifth best in the MWC this season.
