On the heals of men’s ninth and women’s seventh consecutive Midwest
Conference championships, Monmouth College’s track teams continue to
be ranked in the top 12 nationally by the U.S. Track & Field and
Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
In the latest power rankings released Wednesday, the Fighting
Scots men moved up one notch to seventh and the women held steady in
12th. The rankings, which compares teams based on performances
during the current season, is released weekly by the USTFCCA.
Monmouth’s teams debuted two weeks ago and the men have continued to
move up the rankings.
The Scots men closed the gap on the nation’s top-ranked team, UW-LaCrosse,
this week. Monmouth garnered 225.48 points, less than 11 points
behind the leader. Monmouth’s women posted 198.10 ranking points to
trail women’s leader UW-Lacrosse.
The Scots will go head-to-head with the Eagles this weekend as
both teams will compete at the UW-Stevens Point last chance
qualifier Saturday.
