Seven track Scots earn All-American status Release Date:

OSHKOSH, Wis. –
Juniors Luke
Reschke (Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo) and Shannon Turczyn (Peru,
Ill./LaSalle-Peru) joined national pole vault champion Jonny Henkins
(Kewanee, Ill./Kewanee) and four other Monmouth College track
athletes as All-Americans after the final day of the NCAA Division
III outdoor championships held in Oshkosh, Wis.
Reschke claimed his
third outdoor All-American award and sixth overall, placing third in
the men’s 400-meter dash finals. He shaved four-tenths of a second
off his preliminary time from Friday to finish in 47.63, the
third-fastest time in school history.
Turczyn earned her
third straight outdoor All-American award in the 100-meter hurdles.
She clocked a 14.24 in the finals to place fifth. Turczyn had set
the new school record of 14.18 during Friday’s prelims.
Jenny Babos’ competed
in her third event of the meet Saturday. The senior’s shot put of
42’6-3/4 failed to qualify her for the finals.
The Scots crowned
three of their seven All-Americans on Thursday’s opening day.
Henkins won the pole
vault (16’7-1/4), becoming the first two-time national champion at
Monmouth. Peter Sprecher (Canton, Ill./Canton), last year’s outdoor
champion, placed sixth (15’5-1/2). Women’s vaulter, Jessica White
(Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) tied for third while tying her own
school record (12’6-1/4) for the second time this season. The trio
each earned their second All-American honors outdoors and fourth
overall.
Two other field event
seniors earned All-American status on Friday.
Zach Wilson’s (Lacon,
Ill./Midland) sixth place finish in the hammer throw (179’10) earned
him his first outdoor All-American honor to go with two indoor
awards. Megan Clennon (Aurora, Ill./West) gained All-American status
outdoors for the second year in a row. She finished in a tie for
eighth in the high jump (5’4-1/2).
Monmouth’s men placed
10th in the team competition with 22 points. The Scots women scored
10 points to tie for 25th.
