MONMOUTH, Ill. —
Monmouth College senior Kevin Kamenjarin (Alsip, Ill./Marist) picked
up his first Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honor in men’s
tennis.
Kamenjarin battled his way to a 5-2 dual meet record with a three
set win Saturday against Cornell. Playing at No. 2 singles, the
senior staged a comeback for the ages. Playing against an opponent
who had been his team’s No. 1 singles player prior to meeting the
Scots, Kamenjarin dropped the first set 6-7 in a tie-breaker. He
then trailed 5-2 in the second set when he began his monumental
turnaround. The Scots’ veteran fought back to win the set 7-5 and
took the match with a 10-4 decision in the third set. Earlier in the
day, he teamed with Kyle Korb to post an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles.
