MONMOUTH -- Senior Michelle Kommer (Monticello,IL/Monticello) responded to the occasion on Tuesday night, playing one of her best all-around matches of the season on Senior Night at Glennie Gymnasium to lead the Monmouth women’s volleyball team to a stright-game victory over Knox. The Fighting Scots improved their MWC record to 2-2 with the win (14-10 season) while Knox dropped to 0-3 and 1-26. Monmouth swept the match by scores of 15-5, 15-5 and 15-9.

Sophomore Cathie Osborn (Hartsburg,IL/Hartsburg-Emden) recorded 7 kills and added 10 digs as the Scots were able to jump out to an early lead against the Prairie Fire and keep the pressure on all night. Freshman Jamie Jones (LaHarpe, IL/LaHarpe) and junior Wendy Erlandson (Kirkwood,IL/Yorkwood) chipped in six kills and two blocks apiece as Monmouth was able to spread the offense from sideline to sideline. Junior setters Stacey Kreps (Champaign,IL/Centennial) and Cindy Erlandson (Kirkwood,IL/ Yorkwood) handed out 12 and 10 assists, respectively, and Erlandson also earned four service aces.
