Leadership Interns.
Wackerle Leadership-Internship Program

Each semester 6 student leaders are chosen to participate in a paid/unpaid, academic credit/no credit Leadership-Internship program for one semester or an entire year. 

This program is designed to be a capstone leadership experience for students wanting to reach their fullest potential. By participating in the Wackerle Leadership-Intern Program at Monmouth College you will gain the knowledge, skills, and experience to not just get a job but to be successful in all aspects of your life. This experience is a GREAT stepping stone into the world or work!

Some of the internship areas include:

  • Marketing-Advertising (program advertising, marketing plan development, needs assessment)
     
  • Public Relations (image management, communications plan, develop and edit of newsletter and other Wackerle publications)
     
  • Event Planning (program planning & coordinating, facilitating, training, advertising, budgeting, conduct focus groups to determine program needs and wants)
     
  • Greek Life (advising student groups, writing articles in paper, coordinating Bacchus/GAMMA, recruitment, marketing, coordinate filed trips to other campuses to assess their Greek systems)
     
  • Leadership Planning/Training (evaluate and coordinate leadership programs, develop training programs, facilitate programs)
     
  • Service / Civic Engagement (public service, work with off-campus agencies, coordinate service opportunities, design service brochures, work on web-site, coordinate National Service week)
     
  • Career Planning (work with the Wackerle Center to coordinate career resources specifically for a department, e.g. web resources, power point presentations, class presentations, bulletin boards, fliers, etc.)
     
  • TNT Involvement Center (coordinate center activities, resources, assist students with Co-Curricular Profile, coordinate student organization registration, present at Intro to Liberal Arts classes, design brochures)
     
  • Higher Education Administration (if you are interested in going into Higher Education as a career path there are many opportunities for internships including all of the areas above plus Multicultural Affairs, Admissions, Development/ Fundraising, Spiritual Life, Student Activities, Residence Life etc.)

Benefits / Expectations of Program:

  • Attend weekly staff meetings-facilitate at least one meeting per semester
     
  • Have weekly meetings with supervisor
     
  • Attend Alternative Spring Break for FREE (Optional)
     
  • Read a selected book (1 per semester), discuss at staff meetings and apply to life/internship (books so far have included "The Leadership Challenge", "The Tipping Point")
     
  • Interview / job shadow someone in your career field of choice
     
  • Dress professionally & learn professional etiquette
     
  • Evaluated by supervisor
     
  • Collaborate with peer interns and professional staff members
     
  • Learn facilitation/presentation skills
     
  • Attend the Professional Etiquette Dinner and Dress for Success program for FREE
